The card backdrops I got from a shop here in the UK called 'The Range' - it's a general homeware/department store. They had four sheets of large (51 x 63.5cm) art card for £4.50 which is a pretty good deal and they're a nice fit for the studio, I only had to trim 1.5cm off of each sheet.
I'm not sure where I'll find a suitable fabric though. Will have to shop around I think.
Dan's F1 Collection
Re: Dan's F1 Collection
I prefer the hard stock over the fabric. Any here into photography that has a source in Canada or the USA?
Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Depends on the look you're going for I guess - I quite like the completely white backdrop that isolates the car from any background, but I don't mind the look of the black card either.
No more 1:18 Jenson Button cars photographed yet, so let's move onto some other random models in the collection. I'll show the helmets and smaller scale cars/helmets in future too.

Picked this one up shortly after it was released in 2013 - it's an exclusive for CK Modelcars in Germany, limited to 500pcs. I thought it would sell out pretty quickly given Kimi's popularity at that point, but it's still in stock on their website five years later, and is currently discounted.

Looking good sir! Go Kimi!
It always fascinates me how one model sells and the other doesn't. You can't rick the chance of not getting one so you jump on the bandwagon as soon as possible. I wish I had the crystal ball... Good example is the Minichamps 1:18 BMW M2 Coupe. Sells out in days in all colours so far!

Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Very beautiful Formula One cars.
Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Yeah, it's odd. I've still got to add Jenson's 2016 and 2017 cars to finish off my collection, but I think I'd prefer the Spark model for 2016 and that's really hard to find now despite being a rubbish car on the track.[KRAFTIG] wrote:Looking good sir! Go Kimi!

Here's a couple more JB cars - these are from the 2006 season, which I have customised a little. Minichamps released his first win model with dry tyres, but I preferred it to have intermediates as the majority of the race was run in the rain. I swapped the tyres from his first win model onto the standard RA106 model which I then converted to accurately replicate his car from the Australian GP, where he scored his only pole position of the season. Changes for that were re-locating the number 12 on the nose, fitting an old-style 555 decal on the nose, and putting the RayBan logos near the wing mirrors up into the red bar, as well as a full conversion to the Lucky Strike tobacco livery.
I was a bit disappointed with the first win model - there are a number of areas that needed updating that Minichamps didn't bother with (new front and rear wings, and the winglets on the sidepods should have been elongated), yet they did make changes to the suspension layout which is far less obvious. The figure, when originally announced, was supposed to come with the winner's trophy too.

Love the tire detail!
Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Picked up this Amalgam 1/5th BMW Sauber F1.09 recently. There is some damage, but Amalgam have said they can repair it, I'm just waiting for a quote.

Re: Dan's F1 Collection
That's huge! What was the price if you don't mind me asking?
Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Yeah - it's about 95cm in length!

Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Nice! Comes in the case above too?
Re: Dan's F1 Collection
Yeah, the box came with it. It's got some clamps in it to hold the car secure, but unfortunately all the parts they clamp to are broken or missing!
It also came with a framed print of the race car with technical specs on it.

Re: Dan's F1 Collection
That's pretty cool. I wonder what the repair bill would be... You can't do it yourself?
