Best way to clean old adhesive residue from old stock model

Like the title says, I have recently bought a new (unopened, old stock) model (kyosho) that had the round stickers still on it. They were stiff and very hard to lift off, and left a fair amount of glue residue.

Now I can think of a few things that will take it off, but I want to strike the perfect balance between getting the job done easily and not harming the paint. The residue is on mixture of metal and plastic parts.......

Appreciate any pointers you guys might have. THanks

This is two months old, so you've probably figured it out by now. In case you haven't:

First I would simply try warm soapy water and a good scrubbing (nothing abrasive). If that doesn't work try some wax (for automotive paint).

If that doesn't work try some adhesive remover (used to prep surfaces for paint). It is a VOC (volatile organic compound) and should be used with gloves, mask and ventilation. You don't want any on your skin or any plastics.

If that doesn't work you may need to use something such as Goo-Gone.

Goo-Gone would require you to disassemble the model, as you don't want any on plastics. You also don't want any on your skin. It is pretty caustic stuff and requires rubber gloves, mask, and ventilation. You really shouldn't need Goo-Gone though.

All of these methods* strip any protective coating on the paint. This should be applied in order to protect the finish.

*If you use a automotive-based soap to make soapy water it usually won't strip wax (check label on the bottle). If you use dish detergent it does strip wax.
