Minichamps represents the Targa version of the '80's Carrera...which never offered a removable rear window.

GT Spirit makes the 1967 911S Targa with the roof & window removed.

Schuco just released the 1973 911S 2.4 Targa.

I never did either & it still wouldn't be my choice if I were buying a 1:1.

Somehow as a model collector, though, I like the changes over the regular 911's.

I have the Carmine Red coupe, and as much as I want to love it, I also noticed the oversized wheels and was a bit disappointed. More unfortunate, however, was the QC on my example. There's a glue spot underneath the mirror on the passenger side on mine that's really obvious. It sticks out like a sore thumb on that paint. Too bad, because it's otherwise a brilliant model. I probably should have shipped it back and asked for another model, but I was really busy at the time and didn't follow up on it in time.

I think I actually like this Targa better for what it's worth. I especially love the blue paint. I wonder if there is any chance that Schuco would rerelease the model with properly scaled wheels? Doubtful, but it would sure be nice.

In the meantime, all of these pictures of the early Targas really make me want one of those. Wow!

Couple of questions about this Schuco model:
Is the engine visible on this model as it is on the Schuco '73 Targa? If not, maybe that's why the price is lower. What model year does this car represent?

Open features mirror both models.

Does this hatch open to view the engine inside? Can you show pictures of the engine and the open hatch in this review of the GTS Targa 4 as you showed us in your review of the 1973 Targa? Does this model represent the 2015 model year Targa?

No, only functional spoiler. If you see both models in the flesh the quality, detail, and execution between the classic and modern Targa go well beyond this.

the Targa was released for 2014, but the GTS version was released for 2015 (though it should be the same for 2016...2017 is the facelifted 991.2).

The new blue Targa looks really good. I love black rims. But I mean the ground clearance is too big.
