1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?
I went into a random shop 3 years ago when I saw diecast cars. I immediately fell in love with them and bought one. Today I have a total of 55 cars, including twenty three 1:18 cars.
2) What was your first diecast or memory?
My first diecast car was the Ferrari F430 Challenge.
3) What is your favourite scale, and why?
Well, 1:18 scale is my favourite because you can open all the parts of the cars, which is practical for pictures and display; and it’s enough big to be nicely detailed.
4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?
I think my AUTOart Aventador Roadster and my Minichamps 918 Weissach are my favourite.
5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?
The AUTOart Pagani Zonda Revolucion in Carbon Blue. I’m hunting since ages but it’s hard to find one for less than 400€.
6) What is your favourite brand/manufacturer, and why?
AUTOart. Basically, their cars fully open, and really detailed. That’s why I like this brand. Lately with composite models I don’t know what to think but it still my favourite brand.
7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?
I collect Supercars, mainly Modern one but some Classic as F40, Countach, Miura (coming soon) are in my collection. My overall goal is first to have the full Holy Trinity. Except this I don’t really have a goal. I collect cars I like for passion.
8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?
Yes I have some cars on my wall’s exposed beams, while some others are in a display cabinet.
9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?
Well, I have an addiction for the Parkour, but the cars still my principal hobby.
10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?
There are more and more people collection diecast today, and this is nice ! But the diecast prices are more expensive each time except for manufacturers like Bburago/Maisto who arrives to reduce the prices while making a car more detailed. And people who don’t collect diecast think we’re crazy to spend 200€ or more on 1:18 cars !
11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?
I don’t really know what to change except prices… Maybe do more diecast cars shows as the Toy Fair but only for diecast models.
12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?
I tried yes, I repainted my LaFerrari full Matte Yellow, I remove the Challenge decals or my F430 Challenge and made Scuderia stripes, and I painted some rims Black as on my Huayra or my Huracan.
13) What does your spouse, partner or significant other think of your hobby and your collection?
They think I’m crazy to spend a lot of money in “Toys”.
14) What is your daily driver?
I do not drive yet…
Congratulations on winning this month´s DCOTM, mon ami. It´s good to see youngsters joining the hobby. It´s rare because we old “kids” have grown up with the hobby when 1/18 scale became popular way back in the 80s when prices were affordably low and choices small. For young newcomers there is sheer endless choice … and hefty price tags. People my age can afford a € 200+ model more easily and fewer models on their wish list after all those years. The holy grail Pagani you are after is available at the price you wish for from this shop: https://www.hansecars.de/de/hansecars-modellautos/75/auto-art-pagani-zonda-r-evo-carbon-blue-black?c=74
A word of advice: The models on the beam are gathering dust as you can see in the photographs. I would either buy more IKEA Detolfs or add more glass shelves to the existing Detolf cabinets (I can tell you how) or buy acrylic display cases to protect them.
Again welcome, and thanks for joining the hobby.
C’est un bon début :-)
Pas mieux que Karsten concernant le proposition pour la Zonda R.
C’est un must have, une de leurs plus belles réalisations, si ce n’est LA plus belle !
