1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?
I was always into Matchbox and Corgi and got my first 1:18 Bburago in 1983 I think. I have around 400 1:18 and 120 1:43.
2) What was your first diecast or memory?
It was a 1:18 Bburago Alfa Romeo 2300 & Ferrari 250 Testarossa.
3) What is your favourite scale, and why?
1:18 as it gives the best level of detail for the shelf space.
4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?
There are a few….CMC sauber C9, CMC Mercedes Rennsporter, AUTOart Zonda R, BBR Enzo, Exoto GT40… I could go on.
5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?
I should have bought the 1:18 AUTOart Murcielago 40th anniversary when they were sensible money and the Kyosho Ferrari F40 street version.
6) What is your favourite brand/manufacture, and why?
AUTOart for value, CMC for amazing detail.
7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?
I am more into classics 60’s,70’s, 80’s and modern hypercars like the Sesto Elemento I just got. I can’t see myself stopping as this hobby is an addiction. I built a garage diorama with my son a few years ago, the video is popular on YouTube but I would like to build something bigger and better.
8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?
I did as per the images but sadly I am now working abroad so they are all in storage, I started an additional collection but they are all in their boxes.
9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?
It’s all cars really, I love to see the classic touring car racing whenever I am in the U.K & classic car shows.
10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?
It’s the best it’s been in terms of detail and variety but as all us collectors say it’s the increasing prices.
11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?
The prices, we need more enthusiasts to get into this hobby but the way the prices are they are losing existing collectors who would have previously bought 2/3 models a month to perhaps 6 a year.
12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?
I was experimenting when I was in the U.K with some light mods, the last one I was working on was a Morris Minor Convertible with a Lotus Twin Cam.
13) What is your 1:1 daily driver?
2012 LR Discovery 5.0 V8.
