1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?
Always loved looking at cars as a kid. Loved the aesthetics of many cars. I also like to play racing games and watch movies/anime with cars as a focus, such as the Fast and Furious series and Initial D.
2) What was your first diecast or memory?
1:64 Resin YM Model Lamborghini Aventador S LP740-4 Rowen. Beautiful model that came in a nice package. I just had to get it.
3) What is your favourite scale, and why?
1/64. Easy to store, transport, a large variety, and most premium brands come with an individual acrylic case to display cars on their own.
4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?
I love all my models equally!
5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?
1:18 Ignition Model Subaru Impreza 22B STi Version GC8 in its iconic Sonic Blue Mica.
6) What is your favourite brand/manufacturer, and why?
For 1:64, it would be a toss-up between Inno64, ERROR404/YM Model and FuelMe Models.
7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?
I don’t have a fixed theme; I collect whatever I like, but most of the cars I have are Japanese cars.
8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?
Currently, I’m in the process of moving, so I don’t have the space to open up my models and display them individually. But once I get a shelf, I will display each car in its acrylic case according to modifications or makes.
9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?
Working out, boxing, and travelling!
10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?
Collectors are spoilt for choice due to the number of manufacturers popping up these days. This applies to all scales, but especially in 1:64.
11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?
Better QC across all brands. Currently, I avoid certain brands due to their products having less than ideal QC.
12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?
Yes, I have a collection of 1:64 waterslide decals and license plates and apply these to certain cars.
13) What does your spouse, partner or significant other think of your hobby and your collection?
As long as I’m happy, it’s ok :)
14) What is your daily driver?
Don’t have one. A car does not make sense in a place such as Singapore with a robust and efficient public transport system. Also, car prices are among the highest in the world in this country.
