1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?

This is the second time I’m featuring my collection since 2019. My main goal has always been to collect every BMW model in 1:18 scale. I started collecting model cars back in 2009, and I’m still actively building and refining my collection to this day.

Back in 2019, I thought 254 models were enough and that the collection was complete. Today, it has grown to over 500 models in 1:18, along with four models in 1:12, 1 in 1:43, 1 in 1:64, and 1 in 1:87 – all BMWs. This could very well be one of the largest dedicated BMW 1:18 collections out there.  And of course, the collection will continue to grow as long as BMW keeps producing new models.

2) What was your first diecast or memory?

1:18 Hummer H2, and I think it was Burago.

3) What is your favourite scale, and why?

My favourite scale is 1:18, because it strikes the perfect balance; it shows great detail and offers enough presence, and it comes at a reasonable price. Plus, there’s a wide availability of different models in this scale, especially BMWs.

4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?

Well, I always go back to Autoart models—my favourite being the BMW 5 Series E28. I’ve shared some photos in the past, and I’ll be posting more.

5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?

Honestly, I think I’ve managed to source almost everything I was looking for.

6) What is your favourite brand/manufacturer, and why?

There are many great brands today, but I truly wish Autoart would restart producing BMW models again, as they brought real competition to the market.  Brands like Minichamps, Kyosho, GT Spirit, Otto Models, and of course AUTOart have all contributed to making good pieces. It’s a pity Autoart no longer produces BMWs, because their models always stood out.

7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?

As I mentioned earlier, my aim is to collect every single BMW model—both race and road cars—in 1:18 scale. Some models are still missing (not produced), and I can only hope they’ll be produced one day.  Ultimately, my dream is to create a mini BMW museum out of my collection.

8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?

Yes, I display almost all of my collection, except for a few duplicates in different colours. The models are showcased in a mix of display cabinets, on floating glass shelves, and within dioramas.

9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?

Real cars, motorbikes and watches!

10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?

The diecast hobby is definitely growing and improving all the time.  It’s exciting to see new models and innovations, though I think some manufacturers could step back into the game to bring even more variety and competition.

11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?

I would bring back the old quality and materials, regardless of price.  Many collectors, myself included, would still happily invest in a well-crafted, high-quality model.

12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?

Not at all—every model in my collection remains in its original, unmodified state.

13) What does your spouse, partner or significant other think of your hobby and your collection?

They admire my collection… it was a challenge but they have accepted that the living room is now officially a BMW museum.

14) What is your daily driver?

BMW M340 and BMW R NineT motorbike.
