1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?

I have been collecting since 1998 and the passion for some real cars got me into collecting. I stopped with the hobby temporarily between 2005-2009 and then started again. As of today I have 400 models in my collection.

2) What was your first diecast or memory?

My first car was Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 made by Maisto.

3) What is your favourite scale, and why?

My favourite scale is 1:18. I like it because of the opening parts although the resin trend changes things nowadays.

4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?

No I haven’t shared any photos with you before and my favourite model is not just one. It is not about just a model it is rather about the collection as a whole.

5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?

Yes I still regret that I did not buy Mercedes Targa Florio 1924 by CMC and Jaguar D-type by Exoto when they were sold at reasonable prices. The model that eludes me the most is Mercedes 600 SWB by AUTOart.

6) What is your favourite brand/manufacturer, and why?

CMC because of the level of craftsmanship that is being put to almost all of their models.

7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?

My current theme is rally and Le mans racers. My goal in short term is to have a nice diversity between my models and my long term is to have a separate room to display all my models.

8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?

Yes I do. Recently I finished assembling my display cases. The photos are a proof of that.

9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?

Yes, I like skiing and hiking.

10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?

I think it is good to have many brands, because this creates even bigger competition, hence possibly better quality control. The negative thing is the resin trend which slowly but surely floods our hobby. A model at such scale (1/18) should have opening parts. There is no point holding a large brick with a beautiful paint on top of it. Hopefully this changes in the years to come.

11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?

Develop a diecast brand which makes nice quality or sought after models, who are not made by other model brands, but at reasonable prices. Similar to what GT spirit is doing in the resin model market at the moment.

12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?

No I do not have the necessary skills.

13) What does your spouse, partner or significant other think of your hobby and your collection?

She supports me.

14) What is your daily driver?

Mercedes W221 S500 4matic.
