1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?
I have been collecting models since I was a child, which means for about 40 years. My collecting guidelines were cars that marked history in any way. I also make sure that the model has a colour suitable for the time when it existed. So far, I have collected 380 pieces of 1:18 scale.
2) What was your first diecast or memory?
Ferrari 250 SWB California Spider 1961 – Polistil 1:16.
3) What is your favourite scale, and why?
1:18 because you can see the details better, it has all the opening parts, and it also looks more representative to the real car!
4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?
Italian cars 1970 through 1980. This is the pinnacle for me!
5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?
There are a couple of them, but if I have to single out one, then it is the Lancia Fulvia Fanalone 1600 HF from AUTOart.
6) What is your favourite brand/manufacturer, and why?
Norev, AUTOart, Kyosho, because they still have excellent production moulds. Norev has very good models considering the price, which is still acceptable.
7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?
My favourite car models are from the 1960s to the 1990s, when I think that the cars of that time were really cool cars. When I collect all about that story, I will finish with them.
8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?
Part of the collection is in a display cabinet with a glass showcase, and the rest is in boxes and waiting for new cabinets.
9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?
My hobbies have been related to cars all my life, in my youth, car racing, and now reading car literature and following the car industry in the world. To keep fit, tennis and skiing in winter.
10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?
A nice hobby that creates problems with the space for collecting models if we are talking about 1:18. There are more on the market, resin models 1:18 scale that cannot be opened with parts, too high prices that are inappropriate for what they deliver.
11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?
Lower prices, keep the diecast models with full opening parts.
12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?
No.
13) What does your spouse, partner or significant other think of your hobby and your collection?
My wife is understanding because she sees that it is not love but a passion bordering on madness!
14) What is your daily driver?
A Fiat 500 Abarth and an Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.2 Multijet Q4.
Congratulations Vedran for your beautiful and massive collection!
Nice collection, thanks for sharing! Apart from the exotic ones, I also much like those cars intended for normal civilians :-)
