1) What first got you collecting diecast? How long have you been collecting? What is your total model count as of today?
The inception of my collection traces back to my youth, inspired by the Need for Speed Underground video game. Over the course of two decades, my collection has grown, comprising approximately 120 models.
2) What was your first diecast or memory?
The Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster in exterior orange, as depicted in the provided picture.
3) What is your favourite scale, and why?
The scales 1:18 and 1:43 are preferred due to their widespread availability and extensive array of options.
4) What are some of your favourite models to date? Did you share any photos with us?
They are all my favourites but if I have to choose, they are McLaren F1, Zonda R, Porsche 901, Ferrari 250 GTO and Ferrari 375 Plus.
5) Is there a model that has eluded you, a holy grail of sorts?
Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale by AUTOart.
6) What is your favourite brand/manufacturer, and why?
Almost Real, CMC, AUTOart (of old), BBR (of old), and GMP are renowned for producing intricately detailed models, or at least they were (I’m looking at you AUTOart and BBR).
7) Describe your current theme and what your overall goal is?
While I don’t adhere to a specific theme, my objective is to amass models that genuinely resonate with me and hold enduring value. I prefer refraining from acquiring resin or plastic models, opting instead to await superior versions from alternative brands.
8) Do you display your collection? If yes, how?
Certainly, as evident from the photos. I aspire to showcase my entire collection at some point, but currently, space constraints pose a challenge.
9) Do you have any other hobbies, passions or addictions?
Engaging in photography, participating in SIM racing, or attending track events are among my interests.
10) What do you think about the diecast hobby as it stands today?
The escalating costs have become a significant concern, and the transition of companies to closed resin models is disheartening. I ceased making purchases from AUTOart due to the decline in quality coinciding with the increase in prices. I was once an enthusiast of their Signature series models. Bring ’em BACK!
11) If you could change one thing about the diecast hobby what would that be?
Should the prices be elevated, it is reasonable to expect a commensurate level of detail or high-quality metal construction, even in the case of sealed models.
12) Do you modify cars? If yes, what are some examples?
While I used to do modifications, I have since discontinued this practice. It became apparent to me that styles have evolved and become outdated over the years.
13) What does your spouse, partner or significant other think of your hobby and your collection?
She prefers selling some of them. Maybe I have too many? haha
14) What is your daily driver?
My daily driver is a 2007 BMW Z4 M. Although its size may be considered compact for daily use, it fulfills its intended purpose.
Very ni e tastes there, including elevated language. Have you considered contributing reviews on DS?
Not sure what to make of the AR Zonda next to the rare AA Zonda R. Half retracted car cover?
That’s an Almost Real piece.
I recignize it as an AR Zonda, but with a silvery distortioned shape from midcar to rear as if it had melted. Car cover?
Almost Real filler >>> https://diecastsociety.com/review-almost-real-pagani-zonda-f/
Unfortunately, I moved to another country for work. I wanted to share my collection from very long ago, but didn’t have a time to do so. I am very happy to finally share them with the DS team and enthusiasts here.
Super nice all over! Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection!
Now that’s a tasteful collection!
Beautiful collection, very nicely displayed. I appreciate that you haven’t tried to cram a bunch of cars in to every inch of display space and you’ve left room for them to be easily appreciated. I love the Zonda R, I’m debating between spending the money to get one but they have become so expensive. Good job!
Yea, I used to just put them close together, but after awhile they became like a parking lot haha. Got some inspiration from other collectors and museums to present my collection like this now!
