Something is enticing about models in 1:12 scale; it is like choosing a bigger scoop of delicious ice cream. Just like kids, collectors can fall into that addictive trap of picking a larger forbidden fruit and in this case, a model car. For those for whom space is not a constraint, treating themselves with these models will not be an issue. For others, it may be a tough choice to choose just one or two favourites in a larger scale. But let me tell you, they are truly beautiful and could instantly become your centrepiece! (You have been warned). OttOmobile is continuously expanding its 1:12 scale with models not just from Europe, but America and Japan as well. This Bayside Blue 2005 Nissan GT-R R34 Z-Tune (Product # G082), produced in a limited quantity of 2000 models, is a perfect example of a Japanese icon released by them.
Developed by Nissan’s Nismo tuning division, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the company came up with this limited-production model that showcases engineering derived from motorsport. They selected twenty low-mileage V-Spec models, stripped them down to bare bones and rebuilt them, incorporating a wealth of high-performance parts. With reworked race spec components such as new crankshaft, forged pistons, connecting rods, to name just a few, it packed a staggering 500 horsepower and accelerated to 100 km/h in around 3.9 seconds, which was on par with supercars at the time. The Z-Tune exclusivity and performance pedigree have made it one of the most sought-after Japanese sports cars.
Although the model lacks an engine and does not accelerate, it is an absolute gem. OttOmobile’s execution of glossy blue paint is spot on. I do think this is the best colour for an R34, but that is my personal preference. Kudos to them for replicating carbon fibre on the front lip and rear spoiler, which is an important detail element, especially in larger scales, as it is more visible and obvious when omitted. Rims, brake discs and calipers are executed with all the attention to detail and craftsmanship we would expect from them. This piece should be displayed loud and proud, and I would recommend getting a display case to protect it from any dust particles to ensure it stays in top shape for years to come. After all, such an icon should be well preserved. Enjoy the pics!
Thanks for the photo gallery review of the OttOmobile (1:12) Nissan GT-R R34 Z-Tune. The analogy of the 1:12 against more ice cream is sooo perfect. As I once went down this slippery slope, and soon realized I love to display all models, 1:12 is taking up way too much real estate! Soon sold them all. Today, I highlight the home with select 1:12 and 1:8 scale pieces. Ones that mean the most to me!
