REVIEW: iScale Mercedes Benz G63 AMG 2022

Few vehicles embody evolution quite like the G-Class. What began as a rugged military off-roader has transformed over decades into an unmistakable status symbol — the Gelandewagen, or simply, the “G Wagon.” Known for its uncompromising boxy silhouette and legendary off-road prowess, the G63 AMG remains a fusion of luxury, technology, and timeless design.

In the world of scale models, collectors are spoiled for choice. The G-Class has been produced in numerous versions over the years — from standard AMG trims to extravagant Brabus and Mansory editions — offered in both resin and diecast form. iScale’s rendition of the G63 AMG in Copper Orange Magno stands out immediately, its satin-finish hue exuding both sportiness and sophistication.

Out of the box, the model feels solid, giving an impression of quality beyond its sub-$150 price tag. However, closer inspection reveals the expected compromises. The materials, particularly the plastics, have a tactile texture that reminds you that this is not a high-end replica. Still, the overall execution is respectable, with well-defined panel lines and sharp exterior detailing.

iScale includes several add-on accessories — a roof rack, tailgate ladder, full set of mudguards, and a pivoting spare tire with impressively realistic tread texture. While these details elevate the model’s visual appeal, they are somewhat fragile; the plastic components flex easily, so careful handling is advised.

The cabin is arguably the highlight. iScale has done a commendable job recreating the luxurious yet purposeful G-Class interior, blending subtle materials with orange accents that echo the exterior colour. The dashboard, seats, and center console are all well-proportioned, capturing the premium essence of the full-scale vehicle.

This being my first iScale piece, I approached it with moderate expectations — and was pleasantly satisfied. It’s not on par with premium-tier brands like AUTOart or Almost Real, but it delivers a balanced mix of detail, presence, and value. For collectors seeking an affordable yet visually striking addition to their lineup, the iScale Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Copper Orange Magno is a worthwhile pick.

Just keep your expectations grounded, handle it with care, and you’ll find yourself appreciating a well-executed representation of one of Mercedes-Benz’s most iconic machines.

Thank you for the review and truly inspiring images! This piece looks solid; however, your photos will translate to sales!

I actually don´t quite understand the flood of G-class models.
I have an older Autoart Geländewagen and an Almost Real Brabus – and find that enough. At i-Scale´s price they cannot offer the same detail, but in some details they can exceed their more expensive rivals at times. One rather acid green tone for example was deemed best by i-scale over their much pricier rivals. So, yes, color is where they stand out.

So which G-wagen is the best? I’d love to add one (just one) but I’m overwhelmed by the choice.

That interior actually looks pretty solid. Dash textures look spot on. I think iScale does interiors rather well.. I have their R8.
