FIRST LOOK: Maisto Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo

Maisto has officially released images of their upcoming, new, 1:18 Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo – our recent publication of their 2021 catalogue did not capture it in true form.  And results are quite impressive for a budget-friendly brand.  This futuristic single-seater took fame in the video gaming world via Gran Turismo by Sony PlayStation.  We must admit, the new era of Maisto models are definitely better than before, and this V12 Vision Gran Turismo is exceeding expectations.  Looking forward to the reviews!

Great news from Maisto!!! I believe Bburago has made the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio in 1:24 scale (it’s a pity it’s not 1:18). Maisto, since you owned Bburago, why not make a Lamborghini Terzo Millennio in 1:18? That would be an awesome display companion to this 1:18 Lamborghini V12 Vision Gran Turismo!!!

First of all, I am very happy to see this car! Bburago/Maisto cars have made leaps and bounds in terms of quality in the last decade or so! I think there is a good point that you raise there: the Maisto/Bburago 1:24 portfolio is more diverse and their 1:18 offerings?

Why is there more focus on 1:24 scale cars?

Do 1:18 cars get outsold by 1:24’s at a rate so great that it justifies practically abandoning the 1:18 market when comparing new mold releases for each scale?

Are there issues acquiring licenses for 1:18 opposed to 1:24?

Are there significantly more tooling costs associated with making a 1:18 mold versus a 1:24 mold (even though they end up having the same amount of opening parts?)

Would it be hard to “upscale” an existing 1:24 mold (as a manufacturer who already has the blueprint) and make it bigger and into a 1:18 (if it is an excellent mold with good proportions already)?

Very impressive design…but unfortunately, also very toy-like..
