CoolCar Show 2026 Shenzhen, China | Classic Kyosho?

Some exciting news for collectors looking to expand their diecast metal and opening classic BMW collections. Kyosho recently unveiled several new models at the 2026 CoolCar Show in Shenzhen, China, including an early look at the classic BMW E93. The limited photos released so far show the model in convertible form, sparking hope that a coupe version could follow. If so, it would be a welcome addition, as the hobby is still missing many iconic classic BMW M cars in high-quality diecast form. Fingers crossed—this could be the start of something great.

The BMW E93 is the convertible version of the E90-era 3 Series, built between 2007 and 2013, and features a power-folding hardtop instead of a soft top. It shares much of its design and mechanical parts with the sedan and coupe, offering a comfortable ride with sporty handling typical of BMW. A range of engines was available, including smooth six‑cylinder options, depending on the market. While the folding roof reduces trunk space when open, the E93 is valued for combining everyday usability with the look and feel of a well-built convertible.

Those images are of the BMW E93, not the E46.

Another re-release by Kyosho… they could release something new for a change and stop just re-releasing all their old models instead

More re-release than net new content seems to be their business model since investing back into their scale model division. It’s good for those who missed on the initial release.
