About the Renault 12 Gordini Blue 418…  “In the 1960s, Renault launched one of the most iconic sports cars of its era, the R8 Gordini! In 1970, the French manufacturer took a bold step by launching the R12 Gordini. Whilst it retained the blue and white stripes, the car was designed differently. Goodbye to rear-wheel drive with the engine at the back; hello to front-wheel drive with the engine at the front. Once again, we owe the transformation of the standard saloon into a dynamic sports car to the ‘Wizard’, Amédée Gordini. The Italian once again worked his magic, proving the former racing driver’s talents as a designer. The R12 Gordini and its Cléon-Alu engine produced 125 horsepower – twice that of the standard version – and reached a top speed of nearly 200 km/h. More modern and safer, the Renault 12 in its ‘Gord’ version is a real little speedster straight out of the 1970s! Today it is a collector’s item, even rarer than the R8.”
