Some new hotness is coming this spring, not in the form of sunshine but as new offerings from the OttOmobile brand. Five new 1:18 models are on tap for March and April. The feature is the rare Volkswagen Beetle Oettinger. My personal favorite! This model is scheduled for April with no more than 2500 pieces being issued. Other new additions include: Opel Commodore B GS/E – limited edition of 1250, Renault Megane III RS Trophy R – limited edition of 1500, Peugeot 205 T16 (Série 200) – limited edition of 1500, and finally, the Renault 15 GTL – limited edition of 1000. Pre-orders are being accepted today, head over to OttOmobile website for more information.
About the Volkswagen Beetle Oettinger… “With overwhelming approval from Volkswagen, Oettinger, at the request of Beetle drivers, set out to produce a version with a little more power. By replacing the standard 1200cc engine with a dual-fuel injection 1300cc engine, increasing its power from 25 kilowatts to 38 kilowatts, the Beetle reached top speeds of up to 153 km/h verses only 116 km/h in the standard model. Oettinger also equipped his car with a 4-spoke sports steering wheel, giving it a sportier look. The 4,5J standard wheels were replaced by 5,5J wheels, while the suspension was lowered by 60mm to improve handling at high speed. This exceptional model also featured an oil temperature gauge, front spoiler and side-bands labeled “The Special Bug”. It was available from 1983 to 1985 but only in Germany.”
The 205 T16 to me is hugely desirable…..but resin? I’m sorry to repeat myself but surely a diecast manufacturer understands the importance of this car and the income it could bring as a quality diecast with opening features…….. Autoart??
We can only dream!
