New from Minichamps this week bring a handful on new models, most 1:43 in scale. The above feature is the 1:43 Porsche 916 in Black. My personal favorite this week is the 1:43 scale Audi RS6 Avant “Safety Car”. Other new models include:
1:18 – MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 TEAM W05 – LEWIS HAMILTON – 2014
1:43 – PORSCHE 914/6 – WALDEGAARD/ANDERSSON/CHASSEUIL – 3RD PLACE MARATHON DE LA ROUTE 1970
About the Porsche 916… “The Porsche 916 was a power enhanced version of the Porsche 914/6, which was manufactured 11 times in 1971. Besides a prototype from the ongoing 914/6 production (VIN number 914 1430195), the other ten VIN numbers were used from 914 2330011 onwards. All 11 models received true sportive interior designs. The 916 had wider fenders, which were already known from the 914/6 GT, a fixed roof as well as further support in critical areas.
The first three cars received a 2.4 liter six cylinder engine from the Porsche 911S. The 1000 KG light car accelerated in 7 seconds to 100 km/h, the top speed was 233 km/h with a power output of 140 kW (190 HP). The other eight cars had the 2.7 liter 911 Carrera engine with 154 kW (210 HP). Rumor has it, that 5 of the 11 cars were reserved for the Porsche and Piech family, while the rest was sold to loyal and good customers of Porsche.”
