First Look: TrueScale Miniatures 1:12 Porsche 917K #2 1970

A new skin for TrueScale Miniatures 1:12 Porsche 917 series.  Their latest effort is found in Gulf livery based on the #2 1971 platform race car.  Model is completed in typical TSM fashion.  The 917K is manufactured with resin material with closed-body design.  Fans should see this on shelves later this year.

Monumentally disappointing. In this scale, the details should be well done. But, here, they just suck. Look at the latches for the rear body- silver painted lumps. and the undercarriage in the back, around the exhaust pipes- 1 piece of painted plastic. And the white dots on the headlight covers instead of any attempt at screws. No thanks. Very lame effort.

It could have been great, but it is NOT. I’m a big 917K and Gulf racing fan, and this model is just a big disappointment. Looks almost like a 1:12th simple promotional item. Probably produced just to be another money grab from a model manufacturer.

Yeap, maybe for 150,- Euro, I would have went for it, just for display purposes from a distance. I was waiting on this one, but this is too much….

It looks like it should be one of those radio-controlled toy cars that kids have.
