Polar Master MB SLR McLaren “722 Edition” & Mazda RX-7 FD3S

A couple of notable new releases still in the pre-production stages are the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren “722 Edition” and Mazda RX-7 FD3S.  Each model provides the classic metal exterior in addition to full access to internal bits.  The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren “722 Edition” is definitely welcomed as the hobby has not seen one in 1:18 with the exception of the GT Spirit release, though it is resin and sealed.  Each is looking promising, more to come!

WOW! Been lurking on this page for years, but never commented on anything. Finally a SLR 722 in 1:18! Almost spent 1k having one of these custom made on a CMC donor. Never heard of this brand before, and can’t seem to find any webpage? Anyone know how long it usually takes between preproduction to release with these guys? Are we talking next year or 2027 haha? This can’t come out soon enough and every color is coming my way! First the zoned, now this! Lets bring a fully opening Vantage v600 LM to life next!

    • DS Team says:

      Come on, support the site!

    • Tomcatters says:

I was just about to have my CMC SLR turned into the 722 as well for 700€, now I am glad I hesitated long enough lol.

The models here are rumored to be produced by LCD, you can see their quality in the recent Review of the Huayra BC Roadster. If it’s true, then we are in for a treat at probably ~300€ price point.

  2. Tomcatters says:

    AMAZING!

I have AA’s RX7 in black, but always wanted a blue one as well.

    And the SLR?

YEEEEEEEEES! FINALLY! And it’s a complete first, doesn’t even exist in Resin Form. GTS made the McLaren tuned version and race version, but not the “normal” 722.

  3. Roger Lodge says:

Excellent news. I missed out on the Autoart RX7 so am looking forward to seeing the finished model. So far it looks very promising.

  4. Mr Anderson says:

I’m very thankful I managed to find Autoarts version before they started to become super expensive. Comparing the 2 with these rough preproduction versions, I’m relieved the autoart is better. Appears a lot more like the real FD. This version looks a little disproportionate..🤷🏻‍♂️

    • AJ says:

rumors say they use AUTOart knock off toolings here …. so the proportions should be the same

    • Peter says:

I don’t know how you convinced yourself that this one is disproportionate and the original Aa is not as they have virtually identical shape. The same sleepy eyes, the same almost completely flat front (should be bulging more over the wheel arches and further, almost to the windshield), the same (wrong) curvature of the rear arches and the rear bumper. If anything, the rear on this one looks less butch, but it might be due to the different lighting.

  5. Collector says:

This looks promising, any idea on the price?

  6. Paolo says:

I hope to improve on their original basis.Otherwise, there is no production significance.

  7. Patrick Timmermans says:

Not a single 1/18 SLR 722 does exist. GT Spirit is The SLR Edition by MSO

  8. Joseph says:

The SLR 722 was at the very top of my wish list! Really can’t wait to see how good the grey paint turns out because the real one is stunning. Wanted a new grey RX-7 Spirit R too since the AutoArt is too expensive, but if Ignition or AutoArt announce new resin ones before this hits the market, I’ll pass.

  9. Mike Wiseman says:

The mazda does look alot like Autoarts. As far as the headlights/taillights and foglamps. Also the rear hatch. The gaps don’t look as tight as the AA model. Hopefully that’s just due to its preproduction stage. I lucked into getting a silver one from diecastmodelwholesale.com suddenly having about four brand new unopened models for an amazing price. I did always want the blue mica though, but those are outrageous from anyone willing to part with one. The benz is definitely a welcoming sight. I thought I remembered hearing Motorhelix is producing a diecast of some version of the Mercedes SLR.

  10. Mike Wiseman says:

Never mind… the opening diecast version announced from Motorhelix is the Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren C199
