Woweeee!
Wow, these have designs to match most of the Road Kings trucks, including the Smokey&The Bandit design and they are very cheap by any comparison. It is high time model manufacturers are making not only head tractors, but affordable trailers for them too.
However, these seem to fall short … quite literally. A standard US trailer is in between 48 to 53 feet long, but these seem more like just over 50 cm long where 48 foot would translate into some 80 cm in 1/18 scale. While shelf-space-wise collectors will find it easier to accomodate these, it is off-scale.
Further first impressions are that the mudflaps seem unsusual for an American trailer and the space for a licence plate is clearly made for European plate dimensions.
I need to correct myself here. Not off- scale but the existing 32-feet- category , it is still one of the smallest trailers for an 18-wheeler, close to goosenecks pulled by pick-ups.
Way to short
I’m struggling with the same thought about the length. However, food for thought, back in the ’70s, most van trailers were only 40′ in length by industry standards, AND, the biggest thing is the cost difference between these trailers and the MN Diecast trailers is the price, 75% less !!!
Hi. Is there any information about exact dimension of this trailer?
Check with the manufacturer via their website or email service team at FiveDiecast.com
Late to join the conversation. Yes they are quite short. 22 inches which is 33 feet in 1/18. For the price they should have been 28 inches. I won’t be getting any and am very disappointed.
It appears these trailers are a blend of European and North American design. An attempt to satisfy truck buyers from both continents that may satisfy neither.
I’d have to research European semi trailers to determine if the size is usable with the European truck models. Would probably be usable as a tandem ie two trailers in a row, but that gets kinda expensive.
I just realized there are no wheels on the front of the trailers so the tandem idea (known as ‘double-b’ or ‘b-train’ in Europe) is out the window.
Standard trailer size in Europe is 44 feet 7 7/16 inches. Virtually 30 inches in 1/18. So these trailers aren’t useful for European trucks either.
