We’re sure there are some collectors interested in the official Almost Real colours palette for the new Porsche 911 (964) RUF SCR Coupe. We have already presented photos of the Irish Green and Chalk Grey. Two more colours will follow sometime in Q3 2023, they include Mexico Blue and Yellow, the Yellow is based on the CTR Anniversary Coupe from 2017. On a side note, we added a few images of their Ruf Rodeo Concept/Prototype 2020, likely another Q2 arrival.

I hope they one day release the ruf turbo r!
None of these new Rufs are based on the 964. They don’t use any Porsche components. They just look like 911s but they are NOT 911s.
According to common usage, as cited by the Cambridge Dictionary and elsewhere, the term “based on” is applied correctly in this case.
Based on what? The look of the 964? Because that is all it has in common with it and nothing else. No compatible parts. The chassis, engine and all related components are all completely designed in-house by Ruf. So, not based on a 964 at all.
In Porsche parlance (especially in this day and age), “based on” would mean a current model that is modified (ala TechArt GT Street R) or an older vehicle that is restored and modified (restomod as they call it, ala Singer DLS and Guntherwerks 400R). There is nothing on the Ruf SCR that is “based on” the 964, all components were manufactured by Ruf from the ground up. There were no old air-cooled 911s that were dismantled to make the SCR.
