A “Dirty Version” of a car that was involved in a fatal accident on 7th lap?
What exactly is the rationale here – “this is what Senna’s car may have looked like had he not crashed to death in the race.” ???
A very bizarre and tacky choice by Minichamps.
I find that Senna model weird, and in slightly bad taste. The car only completed 5 laps before Senna’s fatal accident – so why would it be dirty, and why would you want a dirty version? It seems like a rather grim and unnecessary cash-in on the anniversary of his death.
As an aside, I looked at some other 1/12 F1 models released recently by Minichamps, and they are extremely disappointing. The front wings on the Mercedes’ have all the elements moulded in a single piece, and they look very clumsy indeed. I have some recent Spark and LookSmart F1 cars in 1/18 that are much better in their execution.
In reference to Senna’s 1/12 Williams. On the box it says SEEK YOUR TRUTH, What in heaven’s name does that mean?
There is no such thing as “your truth”. There is THE truth and then there is your opinion. It’s bad enough that F1 has fallen prey to evil leftist ideology, we don’t need to see it on our models.
It’s the Senna branding, it’s come from Senna’s estate rather than Minichamps. It’s not referring to the literal truth, more about the concept of following your path and finding your place in the world, the thing that makes you who you are.
I’m as opposed to politicisation of sport as anyone, but “fallen prey to evil leftist ideology” is a bit extreme.
Changing the colour of cars in support of racism/ black lives matter is extreme. Kneeling for national anthems is also extreme. Pride flags and pride colours at f1 races is extreme. Let me also say as a proud libertarian I have nothing against how people live their lives or what their political leanings are, F1 or any sport should not be used as a platform for such ideologies.
LOL – all it took was throwaway a phrase “seek Your truth” to trigger you and get you to launch you into some cis white male libertarian virtue signal on a diecast website.
:CRINGE:
News flash…sport…especially international sports…especially international sports backed by car auto manufacturers, energy companies, and all manner of other major corporations… and funded by governments has never and will never be completely a-political.
You and I have a very different interpretation of the word “extreme”.
Anyway, it’s just a slogan used by Senna’s estate, not an attempt to subvert people that like slightly weird and poorly executed model cars.
Minichamps are just the laziest company. It took competition from spark just to update the helmets on their models. They were using the same type from the 90s all the way into the 2010s. They always do the bare minimum. The Senna model is just poor. No research and the wheels themselves have been sprayed so the model can’t even be fixed. Poor effort from a poor company.
