Amalgam Price Increase!

If you have been saving your pennies to purchase into the Amalgam portfolio well you may want to add some fuel to the fire or expect to pay more.  As of August 1, 2024, Amalgam will implement retail increases across the board.  See below the official PR.

An Important Message for Our Loyal Customers

In response to increased costs and inflationary pressures across our workshop operations, we are informing our most valued customers that from the 1st of August most of our prices will increase. As a part of this process, we have also simplified the production process and pricing structure for our Bespoke Model Programme in order to pursue a much-improved lead time on all bespoke orders. We remain committed to broadening our model selections, offering a wider range of new developments, based on our core competency of delivering the finest models of unmatched detail and quality, in partnership with the most exciting automotive manufacturers and motorsport teams in the world.

This will not affect orders already in place and we invite our loyal customers, if they have been considering a purchase, to order or pre-order (if applicable) their model prior to the price increases effective from the 1st of August.

If you have any questions or queries, please reach out to me and my colleagues in the sales team by email: sales [at] amalgam [dot] com.

And just when I was getting ready to buy one!

Their rich customers will found this message ridiculous , rich people never look the price of the stuff.. in their world “most expensive” its a positive thing, it means “more exclusive”
Only us, “the poor scale collectors” are crying for this..

Same thought here: This announcement is addressed to their “loyal customers”, in other words people who have (more than once to rather frequently) been buying from them. Those who have bought at the well-known prices couldn’t care less and will shrug their shoulders.

Those who were saving their pennies and were on the fence may panick, dash forward and buy now, before their grail slips out of their reach … from sky-high to the stratosphere. They are the audience this announcement is really meant for.

Others will shrug their shoulders, too, but because they wouldn’t even start considering an Amalgam model if they had announced to half prices.

I did buy an Amalgam F40 in scale 1:18 once, just because I wanted the best version of this. Apart from a manufacturing error (the inner rear window was positioned half a centimeter too far forward), and two small fixes, I do think it was worth the 750 euro a few years ago. And they would include a 100 dollar/euro coupon for a next purchase.

At current prices I wouldn’t even consider buying.

Their 1:8 models look stunning. If I were really rich I’d be buying those!

Have you seen them in the flesh? I have, and I was underwhelmed.Plasticky looking and so, so big that they don’t fit the definition of ‘miniature’.

      • Jelle says:

Yes, I have seen them in real. A model car store I regularly visit usually has some on display. Although I must say that these are usually vintage F1 cars. The more modern Ferraris may give a different impression.
