Minichamps Future Releases – Metal/Opening!

We have future releases from Minichamps to share.  What makes it special is that all items here are metal and full opening, even some roof accessibility too!  Not the typical release from Minichamps in recent years.  BMW and Porsche are in the mix here, cars and SUVs include the BMW XM 2023, the BMW i5 2023, the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Weissach Package 2024, the Porsche 911 Dakar 2022 and the Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS 2024 Getspeed Race Taxi.

Great to see Minichamps doing opening models again – although that XM is hideous in 1:1, the world definitely doesn’t need it in scale.

What are everyone’s thoughts on the GT3 RS/GT4 RS wheels and tyres? To my eyes the rims look slightly oversized and the tyres a bit too low profile, and I can’t unsee it.

Hmm I don’t really see the oversized issue. Looks pretty accurate to the real cars which do have quote a low tire profile.

There’s definitely something off with the way they fill (or don’t fill) the arches – Norev’s GT3 RS looks better in that area than Minichamps. And whatever the issue is on the GT3 RS, the GT4 & Spyder RS are giving me the same vibe. I do think that the face of the wheels is too flat. The centres should be recessed more than that.

I’m super excited to see a fully opening model of the GT4/Spyder RS coming out. I was ready to get GT Spirit’s upcoming one, but now I have my eyes on these.
I’ll wait to see better photos, but the magnesium wheels don’t look nearly as nice or high quality as the forged aluminum (For the GT4 RS the satin ones are the forged, the gold are the magnesium). Hope pricing is reasonable.

I’ll be waiting for the Norev Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Spyder GT4 RS. It seems their Spyder will get a complex rear hood opening mechanism as well and the colours they have announced are way more attractive than the ones PMA has chosen. I agree with Spikyone on the tyres, but it’s not really the tyre wall height which disturbs my but the hideous offroad style cuts in the tyre walls. Plus the Norev models will probably be way more reasonably priced…

    • Josh says:

I had no idea Norev was planning on making these too. I guess I’ll wait, both for price and because I trust their brand a bit more.
