One Model MUGEN CL1

The first of many announcements from One Model in 2018 is a tuner car, MUGEN CL1.  The model is scaled in 1:18 and is crafted in sealed resin.  Also new for 2018 is removable mirrors.  It now seems damaged mirrors on scale models will be a thing of the past.  But seriously folks was this a massive issue with collectors in general?  What are your thoughts?

Depends on the brand and the packaging. TSM McLaren P1 in the soft foam shell, me and everyone got broken mirrors, and I just got a Kyosho Audi R8 today in the solid foam shell that just sits in there loose, no screws at all, both mirrors broken off. So I guess, yes, it is a problem, but a problem that can be sorted properly by the manufactures in the first place!

My exotos came with mirrors separately in a bag. I loved that

Difficult to see anything with the snowflakes all over your website.

Never had a problem with these, in years of collecting. It is a fine idea, as so many cars now come requiring the assembly or attachment of something. Why take a chance?

I had problems with a few models that arrived with mirrors loose or detached so this is not a bad idea. However I am not sure this can be done with all kinds of mirror, some have the base too small for the magnets I think. And then you will get another issue, missing or lost mirrors …

Lately I received lots of models with broken mirrors. Especially BOS, e.g. several Rolls Royce Silver Spirits and Ford Rancheros (offers on ebay tell the same story). Feels like they switched from some plastic material to easily breakable resin mirrors – bad move :(

Therefore I like the idea of removable mirrors (and hood ornaments, aerials etc.) – doesn’t have to be the fancy magnet version though…

My thoughts exactly: BOS produces a lot of 70’s models where the side mirrors hang on by the proverbial thread. If these would be shipped seperately, then please in a little plastic bag, otherwise the are gone before you even open the box. It’s common practice with 1/43 handbuilds (without display case). Of course the mirrors wouldn’t break if the styrofoam had a more intelligent shape. Quality is not yet high priority with BOS.
