A rare ground-up new release from ACME finds the 1:18 metal and opening replica of the Hudson Hornet Hardtop – more on the car below. There is no word on a release date or potential colour list. But, as history shows, this mould will be used well.
About the Hudson Hornet… “In 1952, the newest member of the Hudson family was launched with its power-packed Twin-H engine providing all the power to sprint away and stride the miles in comfort. With a 119-inch wheelbase, it is highly maneuverable and easy to park. A true beauty with low lines, a massive grille and rear end design, and a huge wrap-around rear window.
The “Twin-H” version of the engine was introduced with dual one-barrel carburetors which produced 170 hp. The engine could be tuned to produce 210 hp if equipped with the factory 7-X modifications. And with the help of Marshall Teague, Herb Thomas and Tim Flock’s driving skills, the Hudson Hornet won 27 NASCAR races. In AAA racing, Teague drove a stock Hornet to 14 wins during the season, bringing the Hornet’s season record to 40 wins in 48 events, a winning percentage of 83%, a remarkable feat for a six-cylinder car.”

Highway 61 made these some time ago. I suspect Acme is using the same molds.
They were wonderful models. Their Hornet had a driveshaft that spun with the rear wheels and turned the fan blades on the engine.
ACME has been using their molds for ages.
