ACME Painted Sample Ford Hot Rod Pick-Up Truck

We initially caught a glimpse of the all-new ACME Ford Hot Rod Pick-Up Truck back in February.  Today the team presents the first painted sample in Red.  The diecast exterior is mated to a full access model with a wood-grain finish in the bed with the fully functional tailgate.  Motor detailing could be a little better based on the provided photo.  Release date Q1 2022 with production limited to just under 1000 pieces worldwide.

At first glance I was super excited for this model. Street Rods are a huge passion of mine. My main interest in 1:18 has always been Ferrari with some supercars from the competition as a side. When it comes to building model kits, my efforts have been concentrated on Street Rods, with the ’32 Fords the main heroes. I have quite few of the original GMP ’32 Fords and always wandered why they never released any more body variations. There are Victorias, Tudors, Phaetons, Cabriolets, B400s etc., which all use the same chassis and drivetrain with the same hoods and grilles. Finally coming up with new body on the ’32 platform was great news for me.
However, from what I see on the pictures, they have actually gone backwards with this model. Dash insert is awful and the engine is something that Maisto would not put in their models.
I hope they make the model in kit form, like their coupes before, so I can get one and build it proper. Thankfully, when it comes to this particular subject, there is a plethora of aftermarket parts, thanks to today’s 3D printing technology.
