Almost Real officially unveiled their latest project, the 2020 Land Rover Defender 90/110. Partnered along with the Land Rover team and the full-size Defender at the 2020 Chengdu Motor Show. The model is shown in a full painted working sample. We must say it looks superb! Full access and a wealth of exterior and interior detail are plenty. The team tells us this is a “long-term project” with Land Rover and there are more colours to come in the near future.
Product# TBD
This is nice and all but they haven’t even released much less shown the models they announced over two years ago. Where in the hell are the Jaguars and Pagani’s that should have been out by now. Almost real is all over the place.
My best guess to that question is perhaps this is a partnership between AR and LR to produce a dealership model, similar to the AR Lexus model. And if a specific automotive manufacturer has contracted AR (giving them money to produce a dealer edition of a model, then) this project now shoots to the top of the AR priority list over some hobby intended releases.
Very much agreed. I can understand if LR paid them to produce this particular model, but honestly, it’s getting tiresome to wait.
The Paganis were announced what year? 2017? 2018? Don’t know but feels like ages. I even remember messaging them in 2018 asking for a rough estimate and they told me they were doing their best to keep a Q4 2018 release…
More like 2028 by the looks of it.
Honestly, this is why AR is, to me, not a competitor at all to AUTOart. Or any reason why AA should feel threatened. The pace in which new releases come out is so slow and they don’t even have the lower price argument going for them anymore.
Like Yoda said “Patience you must have, worth it will be”.
I waited for the Bentley Mulsanne models… and it was worth the wait.
Got the Mulliner Limo in bi-color red (looks much better than the silver over blue one they have advertised for two years) and the Mulsanne W.O Edition…
Also got the Lexus LS and LC dealer editions (much much better than the AutoArt versions).
Now am am waiting for their 1:43 Bentley Mulsanne (hope they still have it planned last I heard is affirmative). If they are anything like the Maybach it is worth the wait.
Hahahaha…
PS: I would like them to make also the Bentley Mulsanne LWB with openings (I have the the GT Spirit one, looks decent but it lacks opening and that feel of diecast)
The Grand Convertible I heard is still in the pipeline.
They never had for real the lower price argument, maybe only in the 1:43 scale the price/quality argument still goes for them.
Remember when AA used to make 1:43 scale with full openings and super details? That was craftsmanship.
All scale models no matter the scale or manufacturer jumped in price in the past 5 years… some had improvement in quality, some not…
If you ask me the pragmatic answer would be it is not worth investing is scale models… but to me this is a hobby and it goes beyond pragmatism… and we all know any hobby is expensive.
I have Contacted land rover in the uk they have no plans to sell this in the dealerships here !!
Same was for the Lexus LS and LC, it is only available in Toyota/Lexus dealerships in Asia (mostly in China). Like a lot of other new models like Cadillac and Lincoln 1:18 scale are only available in China.
For land rover they most probably will go with TSM 1:43 scale in dealerships or official online merchandise store.
