Amalgam unveils its 1:18 resin and sealed Ferrari 250 GTO ‘Road Specification’ replica. The model definitely captures the essence of the classic Ferrari, but so does the price. This item will set you back north of $1300 US. There are options, cheaper, and some offer full access. Learn, read, and educate!

I paid $128 for Kyosho’s black GTO in 2009. Our hobby has become obscenely expensive.
Our hobby has always had an area of extremely expensive models (going back decades), this is nothing new.
Amalgam caters to different crowd, their business model is aimed at different collector, similar to those that align with Rolex, Ferrari or Gucci . As for price, they are definitely far ahead on currently 2024-2025 pricing. Spend wisely all!
I think that it’s to much expensive
The lack of competition makes these manufacturers lazy and greedy. Stop paying for sealed resin these prices. It’s a joke .
This exact model is (or was) on sale for years as a Ralph Lauren item at a (so nice) 2000-2500$ price range, and during this time Amalgam didn’t had any intention to sold it on their own shop (I guess they had a special agreement with RL ?).
So we can tell this new price is a really good offer (no) :D
since they also made i guess R/L F1 LM, and soon also the 300sl is going to be in there shop pre order option, my guess their agreement to sale it solo as R/L models is ended
I don’t get it, especially with this one. Maybe Amalgam regulars are a different type of collector. But not all purchasers are Rolex types. Some are one-timers. I own one (Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8) and bought it because it is my dream car and I could not find a better version. Note: I did eventually find the AutoArt version of it. But that was later. My point is that CMC offers this very same 250 GTO model ( I have it), in full opening, exceptional detail. Even if you have the where-with-all, why buy the “stiff” version for double the money? I was able to see an Amalgam 1/8 scale in person. Truly amazing and costing a king’s ransom. In comparison, Amalgam is a bit casual in their effort with 1/18 scale models. Considering what they are asking, they could/should do much better. The world does not need another resin stiff, even if she is pretty.
