This is not a prototype form of the car. This is a car with significant history following an old tradition. The car was a one-off, custom made for then Ferrari president Luca DiMontedzemolo. Gianni Agnelli, the owner of Fiat had custom one-off coach built Ferraris made for him since the ’50s. In 1986 Pininfarina made a Ferrari Testarossa Spider for the 20th anniversary of him being the president of FIAT (which by then owned Ferrari) It was the only Testarossa Spider officially made by Ferrari. It was silver with thin blue stripe on its bottom and light tan interior.
The above model from BBR (which is not exactly in the right color) was made in the same fashion by Pininfarina in similar color combo as Agnelli’s TR. The car was commissioned by Gianni Agnelli as wedding gift to Luca DiMontedzemolo, which also coinsided with the 25th anniversary of him becoming the team principal for the scuderia and also winning the world championships both in 1975 and 2000. I have never seen pictures of the car with such red stripe.
