Smells Shelby Collectibles mold to me.

  2. Juan Jimenez says:

That is DEFINITELY a Shelby Collectibles product. It even comes on a Shelby Collectibles stand. Only the box is different.

  3. Gian's Diecasts says:

What a waste! Instead of making something new and exciting, they decide to sell something that has been done to death; Exoto, Shelby Collectibles, ERTL, Yat Ming, Road Legends/Signature. Does the market seriously need more Shelbys?

    • Ilka says:

      YES!
Currently there is no 427 Cobra in 1/18 that would be on par with 289 by Exoto; or Kyosho’s 1:12 version.
Kyosho’s 1:18 is an ancient mold, and proportions-wise it’s a joke. Plus it’s not a real historic version of 427, more like a resemble of later generations. Funny enough, their 1/12 model is great in proportions and historic accuracy.
Shelby Collectibles again are models of “modern” 427.
The only one that is more or less historical accurate and good in proportions is the one by Solido…
It deserves a better model, badly.

      • GirchyGirchy says:

The new-ish Solido isn’t bad. The body’s shape is much better than the Kyosho, but details aren’t as good and the hood doesn’t open very far. It’s a step up from the Shelby Collectibles at least.

I don’t know why it’s so hard to make a decent 1:18 427. FFS, Kyosho, just scale down the 1:12’s body that’s so good and throw away those awful old molds!!

That being said, i’d still want to get a Shelby Collectibles Daytona and see how different the glass parts (including light covers) are in shape. One of my Exoto daytonas has quite milked and scratched headlight covers from the previous owner…
Maybe someone has both examples? Would they fit?

  5. Juan Jimenez says:

I’ve got both the Exoto Cobra Daytona Coupe (#54) and three Shelby Collectibles Cobra Daytona Coupes with another on the way. I’m pretty sure the headlight covers would fit (not 100% sure on that though). But I personally wouldn’t want to tear apart either model for that purpose since they’re both great products.

  6. Ilka says:

    Thanks Juan.
I have to confess many people give good feedback about Shelby Collectibles products.
I had their 427 Cobra though, and it was a real disappointment to me. Even solido looks better, IMO.
But maybe they stepped up their game for other diecasts.

No problem. Glad I could help. If you’ve got any other questions about Shelby Collectibles or other diecast products, feel free to ask and I’ll try to help. Have a great one
