Coming Soon Paudi Ford Kuga 2015

Paudi is soon to release the diecast, 1:18 scale Ford Kuga 2015.  We’re not sure what the Ford Kuga is, but we assume its the North American version of the Ford Escape.  In typical Paudi fashion the model is nicely executed with a host of neat features.  They include folding mirrors, operating sun-roof, and more.

The Escape is a US version of the second-generation Kuga. The Kuga is European-designed model, the first-generation was launched in 2008. This second generation was launched in 2012, and in the US it shares only a name with earlier generations of Escape. It’s sold as a Kuga everywhere that it’s marketed outside of the US.

IMO it’s a stupid name for Ford to use, as the car that was sold in the US as a Mercury Cougar a few years back was a Ford Cougar everywhere else in the world – but I could probably write an essay on the confusing and silly names Ford have used.

And how about the Ford Sierra, a car in an entirely different vehicle category to the GMC Sierra – which was a pick up truck…… Car manufacturers make some strange naming decisions. Why was the original VW Golf called the Rabbit in the US? Then there’s the strange case of the Fiat Ritmo. In the UK it was called the Strada, but in Ireland and the rest of Europe it stuck with the original Ritmo name. Neither really hinted at any sense of logic…..

The Mitsubishi Pajero was called the Shogun and Montero in some markets because Pajero can mean W*nk*r in spanish
