COMPARISON: Norev Porsche 911 GT3 – 992.1 vs 992.2

We’ll be examining both generations of Norev’s 992 GT3 models. The focus here is on the Touring trim for the photos, though Norev also produces the standard GT3 variants for each generation, which are largely identical in detail. On the left is the first-generation 992 GT3 Touring (992.1), while on the right sits the updated “facelift” version (992.2).

The 992.1 GT3 was first released in 2022 and marked Norev’s entry into the 992 series. It was a strong effort and offered a preview of the excellent models the brand would later introduce, including the 992 GT3 RS/Weissach, 911 Dakar, and S/T. As a side note, the Malachite Green 992.1 Touring shown here only debuted in late 2025, though it is simply a re-colour of the original model released years earlier.

The 992.2 has only recently been released and is currently available exclusively as a Porsche dealer edition. At this stage, it’s unclear if or when standard retail versions will follow, or what future colour options might be offered. The Touring model is presented in Gentian Blue, while the GT3 Weissach comes finished in Guards Red

The new model features opening doors and a functional front hood. As with modern 911s, there isn’t much of a visible engine to showcase, which understandably feels like a missed opportunity for a scale replica. It would have been a welcome touch to see a movable rear wing included, but unfortunately, that detail is absent here.

The interior is excellent, highlighted by details such as the “carbon” door-sill guards, “carbon” seat backs, dash stitching, and Porsche crests on the seats—all features absent from the previous Touring model. The carpeting now extends through the rear, another improvement over its predecessor. Notably, the new GT3 Touring includes rear seats, a first for any 911 GT3, though capturing them in photos proved nearly impossible with my setup.

Each door jam has some informational stickers, a small but nice touch.

Opening the front hood reveals that the vents now pass directly through and are finished with mesh. By contrast, the vents on the previous Touring were simply black textured plastic pieces and did not extend through the hood.

The headlights have more detail than the previous model, with “Porsche” and other lettering.

In side-by-side shots of the front and rear, the updates become clear: the lower front opening now features mesh, and the rear engine lid is also finished with mesh. On the previous Touring model, both areas were rendered in textured black plastic instead.

The tires now have Michelin branding a well as lettering on the center locks.

Shown here is the new Touring alongside Norev’s 992 S/T, one of my favorite releases from last year. It’s amusing to note that the Touring now includes rear seats—a first for any GT3—while the S/T features a full carbon roll cage, much like a GT3. The overlap suggests a fine line between the two models, as if they are gradually merging in character.

Both models embody the essence of the Porsche 911 spirit—machines perfectly suited for spirited backroad driving. While a large rear wing has its own appeal on a 911, the elegance and purity of a wingless design is undeniable.

It’s another clear success from Norev. While the dealer editions I purchased come at a premium compared to the standard hobby releases, I have little doubt the brand will eventually introduce a wide range of colour options at prices more in line with their non-Porsche packaged offerings

This overview highlights Norev’s commitment to steadily improving its model releases while maintaining prices at a relatively consistent level. For collectors considering a single 992 GT3, the new versions are strongly recommended, as they deliver superior quality and detail. Even for those who already own the earlier release, it may be worth exchanging for the updated model.
