Dorlop… A New Diecast Brand?

We received a note from Dorlop last week.  The new team has provided us pre-production hand-sample photos of their new 1:18, diecast, Suzuki Vitara/Escudo.  Also called the Sidekick, Tracker or Sunrunner depending on market.  The tiny SUV was popular in the mid 90’s.  The model itself is crafted in diecast metal and features opening parts. Based on the initial images execution is quite decent.  Model is shown in Red, White, and Grey.

Dorlop is based in Hong Kong.  Their goal as explained to us is to “offer good quality and detailed model cars to global market with an affordable price”.  The Suzuki Vitara/Escudo is due this April/May.  We’re not sure what the suggested retail will be, but we send out a request.

Sort of like the old familiar Century Dragon, if you look at their Land-Rover Defender 110.

looks great! I wonder what is their definition of “affordable price”

Dorlop models are already for sale for a while here in the Netherlands. The Defender is for sale for 99 euro’s and the Toyota 86 can be bought for around 80 euro’s. The Vitara can be pre-ordered for 99 euro’s. It’s about the same prices as you would pay for a Ousia Kyosho or Otto.

Where can I get this model ?
