First Look: AUTOart McLaren 720S

**  UPDATE ** New images have surfaced of the pre-production model.  As you can see there is some access to the rear engine compartment.  Also a full functioning rear spoiler.  This one is shaping up nicely!

Fans of McLaren supercars are getting a glimpse of the pre-production painted sample of AUTOart’s upcoming 1:18 McLaren 720S. We like what we see so far, though the lack of motor access is somewhat disappointing.  Four colours are on tap, each is featured in detail below.  We suspect a Q1 2019 release date.

76071 – McLaren 720S (GLACIER WHITE/METALLIC WHITE)
76072 – McLaren 720S (MEMPHIS RED/METALLIC RED)
76073 – McLaren 720S (PARIS BLUE/METALLIC BLUE)
76074 –  McLaren 720S (AZORES/METALLIC ORANGE)

I would have interest in getting this however Autoart is garbage now. From reducing detailing of the interiors/struts/engine access consistently they’ve shown they have no interest in meeting the demand of quality. I find most of their models Maisto quality at best. After getting two Almost Reals I hope these guys start pumping models out. They are the future if they start producing more. I remember when all the complaints were that Autoart couldn’t produce the models on their lists fast enough – now they’re pumping them out but have horrible quality. Here’s to hoping Autoart comes up with a solid business plan for their future if they’re going to remain a competitor.

If Maisto had that quality I’d only buy Maistos now.

The latest AutoArt models I got were good, especially the paintjob and detailed tires.

HOWEVER I do agree that they’ve been slacking. 230€ for a model that is less detailed than something I got for 180€ 2 years ago just doesn’t feel right

You can’t get into the 720s’ engine bay anyway, so it’s all good!!! Looks like a fabulous model!!!!

  3. Noverraz Jean-Michel says:

The lack of engine access is like on the real car: no access at all, only the mechanics can access it…

  4. Dario Kri says:

So the bonnet can not be opened?
It would be a bad choice …

  5. Veneno says:

Finally! Does the instrument panel fold?

  6. amlv20 says:

these super cars have no opening engine compartments anymore, with engines so complex and expensive they don’t want people poking at them.only repair technicians can get to the engines by removing expensive carbon fiber body panels.look up videos of Bugatti Veyron oil change on youtube.no need to get mad that autoart has no acces to this engine or poor quality engine bay because its just plastic covers.thats how they really are on 1:1s

Finally!!! The long awaited model can wait for Paris Blue.

No one knows, I really hope though.
