First Look: GP Replicas Mercedes Belgian Fangio GP Winner

GP Replicas is giving fans a first look at their pre-production hand-sample, Mercedes-Benz W196 Belgian Grand Prix Winner, driver Juan Manuel Fangio.  It’s easy to say the model is very rough around the edges.  And those wheels and tires need some serious work.  The model itself will be crafted in 1:18 scale in resin and features access to the motor.

With work on the aforementioned wheels and tires then adding details (not a sticker to the dashboard) and correct materials to the cockpit (i.e. fabric for seats & some wood grain scheme paint for steering wheel), CMC will have a run for its money.

I commend them for the engine access on a resin! I’m looking forward to the end product.

I’ll also commend them if the wheels steer and roll too. The resin nonsense with no rolling/steering wheels and no opening parts is blasphemous and an insult to us diecast collectors. Maybe if resin models had those bells and whistles, I’d be a lot more for it.
