No more than 3d graphics so far. Anyone who ever downloaded files for 3d- printing will know, that in the flesh the final product may not keep the promises that the computer graphics held. And this model has the good old AutoArt to live up to and has set itself quite a bit of a challenge there.
That AutoArt with a pug-like, squashed face? Make it right, don’t eff up anything else too much and it’s already a better model… Because it would finally look like a car it’s supposed to depict.
The trunk doesn’t open?
Good catch; we sent them a note to confirm.
There telling me it’s fixed. Wrong move in our opinion. I hope they reconsider this.
Ah, an openable trunk is so complicated to do in 1:18 scale in 2024 year!
In 2004, 20 years ago, Danbury Mint produced scale models in 1:24 with openable trunk, openable armrest and accurate foldable front seats.
But yes, it was easier to do 20 years ago and in 1:24…
Their reason was to focus more on the interior, motor and underbelly of the model and exceed that of AUTOart. Our recommendation is, if you want the collector who already owns the AUTOart to trade up to SS, the opening trunk is a must! They are considering a revision. Let’s hope it is implemented.
So, the sealed trunk was reviewed and will remain sealed. Not the best decision but they have invested elsewhere. As per SS:
“The closest model to ours is the Autoart V8 Vantage which in second hand condition is the best part of £100 more expensive than our model. The Autoart model also has its fair share of defects as well. And we are ultimately aiming for a better model than it.
Further changes have been made to our model including the addition of headrests and changing of alloys to the more desired Ronal 16 inch variants.”
Now if they do the Jaguar F-Type SVR in fully opening 1/18, that would be epic. Or better still…the Jaguar X308!
Hi dear team,
Great that you are preparing everything to make a wonderful scale 1:18 model of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (1985). Can I give you guys a tip, in order to sell even better?
Make a version in:
– Cumberland Antracite/Grey
– Side mirrors in same Cumberland Grey colour
– No Vantage-front spoiler below the bumpers
– An open mesh-grille/nose instead of a closed one
– Black ‘leather’ interior
Because then……you’ve got the entire Bond fan community behind your back :-P.
Thanks for the input!
