First Painted Prototype CMC Jaguar C-Type 1952

There is news from CMC today, the team officially released photos of their upcoming 1:18, diecast Jaguar C-Type in British Racing Green.  The model is far from complete, but these early prototype images look promising!  Subtle detailing CMC is known for is definitely ago.  Full 360-access has been addressed along with a long list of metal and leather materials.  A host of race and livery cars are on tap and most likely a variant or two.  First models are scheduled to ship in December 2018.

No doubt, CMC réplicas are great pieces of art and conversation, however, materials used, such as leather and fabric are too thick and not well proportioned to real lfe cars, as in this particular case, the leather toneau

    • Atalante says:

Who cares some details are not correctly proportioned since it is a prototype…
Looking forward to this great Jag models.

    • DS Team says:

I think this is more due to the prototype product than the finished product. Thick, fitment, final product piece should be more exacting to the real car. Well, we hope :)

I was hoping for a slightly bigger step up compared to the old AutoArt version considering the likely price. I guess people will buy some of the alternate versions like the Ecurie Ecosse car, but if you want the Le Mans winner or a plain body it’s hard to justify the extra €300+ for this when swapping the wheels on those gets you 95% of the way to this.

These wires look like whiskers, rather than spokes. Could be better-scaled, like the AA versions, only in metal.

Remember is a prototype an alpha or beta model, they have to improve many things,do not see the details, as something definitive

I do fully understand this is a sample – pre-production piece, but there are flaws that they may not fix, or not enough. I hope CMC fixes at least some details on their C-Type’s before they release them. The front/nose of the body is wrong in shape, including position of head lights, and grill has some problems too. Based on what, and how they have produced previous models, I highly doubt they will fix those areas. Oh well…..

And it looks like the wire wheels will have the wrong finish…. again. They should be painted.

I was going to buy one of the models of the Le Mans winner, but maybe not after seeing these early photos. Yes, I do realize that these are photos of a pre-production sample, but I also know as mentioned, there are some problem areas that they won’t fix. I’ll wait to see final production photos before I make a final vote with or without my wallet.
