** UPDATE ** So, this should move away from a topic called collaboration, and steer the conversation into to series or sub=brand under GP Replicas. The focus is on removable panels with a higher level of detail, not seen from the brand yet. As per GP Replicas “we will also use many parts in photo-etched metal); the body of the car will be a mix of resin and composite materials. In the specific case of the model we are currently creating, the internal cell that constitutes the chassis will be completely made up of photo-etched metal panelling…”. We should see this new line arrive before year’s end. We’re eager to see the prize!
A recent post on their FB page announced a collaboration effort with GP Replicas and FT Models Value, but we don’t understand the marriage or relationship here. Can you help define it? And how will this partnership benefit the scale models community? We’ll reach out to GPR for more information. The official press release is shared below.
It is with immense pleasure that I am delighted to announce my collaboration with GP Replicas, for the creation of the first “GP Replicas – FT Models Value” model. The journey I have embarked on with GP Replicas has allowed me to fulfill the dream I have cherished for years, and for this reason, I intend to thank all its management and staff. My primary goal when conceiving this project has never been just to create a model, but rather to be able to give all collectors a fragment of emotion, something truly sought after and exclusive. Thanks to the precious help and craftsmanship of GP Replicas, which has been consolidated over all these years, every detail has been carefully crafted to reflect not only technical perfection but also all the dedication, heart, and soul that I have invested in this. Through this collaboration, I have learned that dreams know no bounds and that passion is the key to turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Looking ahead, I can’t wait to continue this journey with GP Replicas, exploring new frontiers and bringing a series of unique and unforgettable creations to the world of modeling. May this model be just the first chapter of a long and fascinating story, destined to capture the soul of all enthusiasts.

If anything that I see as beneficial would be for them to have a DIECAST METAL division for future car model releases. Especially rolling wheels. But if not, then I don’t see how this collaboration is worthy of mention
Agreed. Based on the initial conversation, this looks like a sub-brand of GPR. They already incorporate removable hoods and access panels… The next logical step is full access resin or metal.
While removable hoods and access panels is a start, I’m still ONLY interested in models with rolling wheels. I don’t mind F1 or Indycar models with no removable cowlings but if the wheels don’t roll, then they have scared me away and the companies have to hope they get someone else who is interested. It’s also a humungous shame that Minichamps are practically following suit with GP Replicas in that regard. In other words, I would love to have one of the F1 Aston Martins in my collection, but the fact they are resin has scared me off. IMO, only model cars with opening parts and rolling wheels is what makes this hobby a million times more interesting.
Aaron, you never miss an opportunity to write this. Maybe at some point you would like to acknowledge that the model car world doesn’t just revolve around you.
The success of GP Replicas in recent years proves them right and brands like BBR, Looksmart, MR and many others show that is unbeatable in the small series sector.
Nowadays, a model like the Exoto used to be available only at high prices and is still only worthwhile for larger quantities.
Or at even much higher prices. This range of products on offer at GP Replicas would not be feasible in your expectations because there would never be so many buyers for a relatively unknown model at the necessary prices.s. This would then shrink the market to a few “mainstream F1s” at very high prices, as was the case with Exoto and CMC. I don’t think collectors want to go back there.
So enjoy the fact that GP Replicas brings this amount of models onto the market at reasonably affordable prices and don’t keep asking for the impossible. And who knows, maybe a few high-quality diecasts will come in the future. From whoever.
Until then, Solido, Bbburago and MCG will serve the market with their metal models with rolling wheels.
Well said. We should include Tecnodel in the conversation too. Both brands do provide an option for classic and vintage race cars that as mentioned will likely never see the day in scale. Sometimes something is better than nothing, even if its not CMC level.
It’s too bad 3D printing has not been made possible to make fully operating 1/18 models this far. When that day comes, along with making resin models work like Diecast metal, it will be a day of celebration
