The quality of kyosho products is getting worse and worse, and the door gap is getting bigger and bigger.

Id say it always was inconsistent as hell. Some models are fantastic, others are overpriced sub-par ones, with huge gaps, paint problems, just lack of detail etc. I’ve recently got re-issue of Miura SVR and it’s very good. This one on the other hand looks like on the worse end of spectrum.

I have one of older versions of this model from kyosho. Gloss black with the 3 bmw colored lines on the grille. It’s this exact same model. Kyosho is really strange. They obviously have their resin releases from multiple brands. The reputation for older Ferrari replicas that set the bar for which a high end diecast replica should be. However, models such as the Mazda rx-7, Honda NSX, Toyota Supra to name a few… are terrible efforts. Owners of those models ask vintage Autoart prices for that junk. As far as know that’s the only option for a full access diecast standard factory Supra, which is very disappointing. Kyosho’s range is very wide for some reason when it comes to quality of models. I actually really like this BMW though. Considering I paid about $115.00 usd including shipping for the one I have. As long as this release stays around that amount I think it’s a great model in that respect

The Japanese car models are relics from the 90’s. Not terrible efforts because back in the day those were some premium diecasts, looking at a market consisting of largely BBurago, Maisto, Welly and the likes. Today these models are outdated and can’t be compared to the current ranges.

Regardless of whether they were good quality for their time, I have to disagree to a point. The shut lines were awful on the back hatch of the Supra and rx7. I had numerous models from that era that proved better execution was possible. Considering the high value of those replicas is based on the actual car itself rather than the execution, in my opinion. With much better efforts being available with exception to the Supra, as far as full access. I think the asking price these days for those particular JDMs is far exaggerated.
