I’m not always convinced by LCD – I’m holding off for AutoArt’s Huayra R, for example. But these look reasonably good and I can’t imagine anyone else making a fully opening version.
I’ll probably pick up the silver as I saw the real thing at Pagani’s factory last year. Hopefully they’ll fix those plastic straps on the opening parts before launch, if Norev can use fabric on the Spyder RS then LCD can definitely do better.
I love pretty much everything Pagani. Or more accurately I have a very weired love/hate relationship with their cars. But when it comes to models I try to get everything made in scale. From that viewpoint LCD is a godsend. But at the same time this gotta be the most hit or miss company out there.
Their Huayra Roadster is nothing to be proud of nd honestly was a big disappointment. Maybe because I expected more from it and all the hype.
Then I got my Zonda Barchetta from them. And I was utterly impressed. Mine came with few minor issues, but nothing that couldn’t be easily fixed. And I love it. Leaps ahead of their Huayra Roadster and worthy opponent to my Almost Real Zonda F.
They were followed by the Huayra BC Roadster. Which in its full carbon skin surprised me in a good way. Even tho I new it was based on the Huayra Roadster moldings and it inherited some of its issues, it is still a big improvement and a good model.
This brings us to this Imola model, which seams to be once again a wild card. I really can’t get over how much higher the front looks than the sides of the car, throwing the whole stance off. Behind the front grilles there are still these glaring silver flat surfaces and I noticed the exact same issue with color bleed under the hoods. After the jaw dropping gorgeous execution of the Barchetta exhaust, here it looks lame and cheap. The interior looks amazing with the alcantara effect and the stitching on it, but all the aluminum on the dash and steering wheel looks horrible. Like plain gray plastic. They added AGAIN carbon on the chassis, but not everywhere. I truly hope these things will be addressed on the models on the shelves.
I personally would get this one regardless, because I don’t think anyone else will make it. Myself, I don’t like either of these two colors, but the red is definitely better. The silver (which I don’t like in real life either) has the better interior color option, but all the plastic parts are instantly recognizable, as their silver does not quite match the silver on the car, where on the red they are carbon.
What I see is a huge potential for LCD to make an amazing model and they have definitely proven they are more than capable of it. But they continue to somehow miss the mark on some simple details and are very hit or miss in my book. I would love to stick to AutoArt, but they are not releasing all the Paganis LCD are and the once they have announced are taking forever.
