Fans of Maisto will have an assortment of newness in the 1:18 and 1:12 scale, to be honest, their assortment expands into smaller ventures but we find this more on the toy than the collectible side… As per Maisto, the first production examples will arrive in Q3 2024. Interesting.. especially with the Trans Am, although 18 other companies make one, at least there will be a true budget one now that Maisto will have one.
Disappointed not to see the new Mustang on it.. they did it when the previous Mustang was first released.
Wish they would attempt a 4 door Bronco in 1:18
I’m actually looking forward to seeing how their black special edition Trans Am turns out. I’m not familiar with any companies that have been able to make a decent 1977/78 Trans Am. Greenlight came close on proportions with a 1/18 release but failed with horrendous door and T-top fit and missing gold trim on the front spoiler. And I would not consider Greenlight as anything more than budget and closer to toy than collectible.
Oh, which other 18 companies? I know of Ertl (AutoWorld) and Greenlight. Who else makes a 77-78 Firebird of any shape in 1;18 scale? Others make the 79-81 (from two toolsets, TA 6.6 and 4.9 turbo) and those are not very good either. FOR ONCE I’d like to see a decent looking and well put together model of this car. I’d like to see Acme or even AutoArt make one of these. Welly? Where arte they? They probably could make an inexpensive and good looking car, their 72 is a great model at this or even higher price point. At the very limit maybe even a Solido would be ok because the first two I mentioned failed in numerous ways to make a decent model of this Trans Am or even the Formula for that matter. I think the Trans Am of this configuration, as important as it is, should be properly done.
Just yesterday I thought about getting a cheap Maisto Viper and painting it in yellow with black stripes + add some Details to have the Forza Horizon 1 Cover car.
If they do this one straight from the factory I will be a very happy man haha
Too bad the Pontiac G8 in 1/18 is not on any die cast metal company’s itinerary at this time.
In box pictures of the Trans Am look great. Better than the new Greenlight release i think. My only concern is scale……i hope Maisto made it full 1/18 scale and didn’t make it a bit small to fit the box.
Also looking forward to the Valkyhrie………green of course. ;)
