We’ve assembled a comprehensive array of photos from the 2016 Nuremberg International Toy Fair. Over 270 photos are presented here from most brands in attendance at this year’s show. Who are the winners and so-called losers? We’ll let you decide. It seems resin and composite models are here to stay, but we promise to keep these manufacturers in check. With currency instability and the ever rising costs of manufacturing models, a primary focus with collectors (in the immediate future) will be more scrutiny, and possible changes in purchasing behaviour. The challenge for the mainstream brands will be how to direct the limited funding to their brands.

DiecastSociety.com was impressed with the mass assortment of new models; the excitement is still here folks! We’re glad to see the rumor mill we exposed (back in December) by the AUTOart brand did materialize to actual prototypes. The likes of Porsche, Corvette, Aston Martin, McLaren and not to forget the beautiful 1:18 Lotus 99T! What will be diecast or composite is yet to be finalized. Continuing on the diecast front, the Ferrari 488 GTB from Bbrugao’s Signature series impressed us with the quality of craftsmanship and assortment of colours that were somewhat missed by the incumbent manufacturer Mattel under the Hot Wheels Elite brand. All this for around the $100 CND mark! Schuco impressed us too; their Porsche Cayman GT4 and other modern Porches stole the show! Also their continued dedication to classic and vintage European work and transporters are envy of most. Schuco, one of our favourite brands is still embracing the diecast form! Thank you!

We cannot end this article without a look at the resin side. Clearly the winners here are GT Spirit and OttOmobile, their understanding of niche models that will shift units is unparalleled, and with an attractive price point. I’m sure they will continue to be successful and lead the charge for many years to come. Their examples include the Porsche Singer, a model we’ve been asking for. It will see light in 2016 in 1:18 scale form. GT Spirit and OttOmobile embrace the tuning side with more exciting news, more variants of the RWB Porsche genius and style and form from AMG and Techart marques.

Tecnomodel is doing things right with the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante. A stunning model offered in a massive assortment of colours too. Kyosho was flexing their muscle with their new “high-end resin” series. Prototypes of the lead marque Ferrari were on display showcasing the Testarossa, F40, and Ferrari Dino 246. These puppies have a suggested retail of $369 US or around $535 CND. TrueScale Miniatures was in attendance too, along side their diecast street and race series, the Top Speed brand, highlighted their new McLaren stars, and the stunning Ford GT.

Folks this is just a tidbit of the 2016 event. There are many photos from many brands to explore here.
