About the Green Monster Land Speed Car… “The Green Monster was the name of several vehicles built by Art Arfons and his half-brother Walt Arfons. These ranged from dragsters to a turbojet-powered car which briefly held the land speed record three times during 1964 and 1965. The land speed record “Green Monster” won the land speed record three times during the close competition of 1964 and 1965. It was powered by an F-104 Starfighter jet engine with four-stage afterburner.”

MUST HAVE
The car was so ridiculously ugly, but pure function that woriked. An awesome model. If I collected land speed record cars this would be a must have.
I can highly recommend this book, also: “Speed Duel: The Inside Story of the Land Speed Record in the Sixties” by Samuel Hawley. Real back yard mechanic stuff: want to test a surplus Air Force jet engine? Just tie it down between 2 big, old trees, fire it up and see if stays or flies away!
