The BMW M5 Touring hardly needs an introduction—it’s Munich’s direct response to the wildly successful Audi RS6 Avant. While the full-size car boasts a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor, collectors will care more about how the model translates into scale form. In this case, GT Spirit has taken on the challenge, and the results are quite striking.
This is one of my early ventures into sealed models, and I couldn’t have asked for a more exciting subject. The Isle of Man Green paintwork is absolutely gorgeous—deep, metallic, and full of life under the light. It’s a finish that commands attention before anything else. The design itself is unapologetically angular and aggressive, perfectly capturing the car’s muscular stance. Some enthusiasts have labelled this generation of M5 as one of the least attractive M cars ever, but in hand, the model proves those critics wrong; it exudes presence.
What surprised me most was the weight. Despite being resin and sealed, it feels every bit as hefty as a diecast—on par with my Kiloworks RS6 Avant. That heft gives it a premium impression, though the wheels are perhaps the one area where I’d suggest an upgrade. A five-spoke design would inject an extra dose of sportiness, but GT Spirit has stayed faithful to the factory spec, and accuracy won the day.
Being sealed, there’s little to experience in the cabin, yet what can be seen is executed well. The digital displays are sharp, the details clean, and there’s enough to satisfy at a glance. One unexpected discovery, however, is the softness of the roof. Pressing it ever so lightly causes a subtle denting effect, something I haven’t encountered before. Whether this is typical of GT Spirit models or not, it does mean handling requires extra care.
In the end, the GT Spirit M5 Touring leaves a lasting impression. It’s big, bold, heavy, and finished to a very high standard. Yes, the lack of opening parts will always keep sealed models from perfection, but judged on execution and presence alone, GT Spirit’s take on the M5 Touring is a winner. A near-perfect addition to any collection—and one that reminds me why I decided to explore sealed resin in the first place.
Thanks, Jose! Another lovely review!! Not sure if we’re fans of BMW’s new styling language, but this model has some presence. Love the wheel option here!
