** There is a second colour to share, Black with decals. This one is due in October as well. Photos have been added below. **
Sun Star is claiming new tooling has been implemented for their version of 1:18 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Along with the new tooling a new exterior colour is presented, this one is called Copper. We love the low hanging suspension and exhaust bits, just like the original! If interested the model will be released on October 2019.
Product# 1950 / 1952
“New tooling”… yeah.
“Just like the original”… yeah… completely wrong shape of nose, windscreeh, roof line, rear window, trunk, taillights.
This car started diecast love for me, it deserves better representation.
Nice int and ext colors. Looking forward to a review of lights, engine bay, interior, fit and finish.
Well, I’ve been looking at “IROC-Z” from SunStar (i put it in quotation marks because well it’s not), as a donor for my project (refabrication of all the wrong things i’ve listed above), the lights are better than frog eyes like they were before, but still are quite rough and milky… and too small, both the lights and the light buckets.
Correct scale of lights (more or less) is AutoArt’s Delorean, so if anybody has the broken Delorian, I’ll buy the lights.
Tail lights are IMO even worse than before – at least on the old style of lights, the mold struts were hidden by black paint, but with these “grid” lights, they are now exposed.
Not even worth mentioning that the shape and angle of the lights is all wrong and was never fixed.
No defroster grids on backlight?
Nope.
And the whole rear window is wrong shape, I’m looking to get a spare 88 TA from Greenlight and take the trunk+rear window from there, but then the C-pillars on SunStar camaro are too wide as well, there can even be a gap between the pillars and the glass. On the flip side though, not sure the Greenlight’s glass is the correct shape either, it seems too small to me. And were the Firebird and Camaro rear windows interchangeable or were they different.
P.S. Just found out that ERTL Authentics ’85 Monte Carlo has lights that would fit, and nicely done. But it’s now even more expensive than AutoArt’s Delorean.
but maybe someone has one broken, for spares?
