Sun Star will be issuing a 1:18, diecast metal version of the 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351 in Calypso Coral. This is a model that will have some ties to ACME USA, an exclusive model for them as we read it. The street date is set for June 2022. Suggested retail $124.95 US.

Freed from the cubic-inch limitation of Trans Am, Ford put more cubic inches under the canted-valve 4-barrel Cleveland heads to create the 1971 Boss 351, a SportsRoof-only muscle car that is arguably the best of the legendary Boss Mustangs. This Boss 351 from the Kirt Fryer 1971 Mustang Collection is one of only three produced in Calypso Coral, special-order paint colour for 1971.”

Nice to see actually, curious if it’s indeed mold based on ACME one (altho i never saw ACME/GMP 1971 mold?) The Sunstar’s own 1971 mold is highly inaccurate, the AutoWorld’s mold is better overall, the model is simplistic but quite solid, and Autoart’s ones.. i was always on the fence about them. The mold seems slightly off at places, and the overall presence of the model seems just… boring?.. There is something strange with American cars made by Autoart, great panel gaps and materials, but they lacks “soul” those cars had. Maybe because of the chosen paint jobs that are most generic, or something else.
Looking forward to seeing the actual model.
