Tecnomodel | Mythos Mclaren M6B 1968

The first McLaren M6B’s were presented by Tecnomodel back in July.   These replicas are from the Mythos series of scale models.   The team is now focused on additional livery of this super cool vintage racer, four more in fact.  Street date is scheduled for January 2019.  We do want them all!

I certainly do want it, but it’s a shame that neither GMP or TSM have made them. As long as they’re really beautiful with body panels, the real gem would be being able to take them off, and see the chassis/frame/engine/wiring and so on.
And before the army of sealed model fans will come and shout at me that they don’t want openable toy cars:
my Exoto Chaparral 2c has modelled the back sides of switches. With contacts and wires. Show me any toy car that has that.

  2. Vincent Preston says:

I agree with you 100%, i would love to own some Tecnomodels McLaren’s, but the price is out of my reach, strange considering I have 42 Exoto’s.

  3. David Carter says:

Factor in the time span between the Exoto releases and now and the increased costs aren’t out of line. If Exoto released the long awaited 2J it would probably cost $995.00 US

    • MLB says:

I agree with David. And…. I am in the model car business.

    • Vincent Preston says:

I agree with what has been said, but If had a spare, say $500, would I buy a sealed brick or a new” second hand” Exoto? Value for money, no comparison, for example: I bought an Exoto Sauber C9 dirty version, a few months ago on eBay for $220. For what you get Tecnomodels are what too expensive, my opinion.

  4. Rochester22 says:

I understand what you are saying but you must realize rhat your Exoto Chapparal
was built about 10 or more years ago. Everything is relative…including pricing.
As for with/without opening parts its up to you to decide what you are willing to pay for
Its really that simple…..what suits you may not suit me.

    • Ilka says:

Yes, I agree, that’s why I said that I wish GMP or TSM could make ones. TSM/Replicarz has made other McLarens recently, and that level of quality/detail would be acceptable to me.

  5. Jeff says:

What is the price of this model? They look good, but i think the exoto models are better.

  6. herve ryser says:

A cette echelle , avec des ouvrants , c est quand meme beaucoup mieux

  7. George K says:

How did we even begin this “compared to Exoto” thread? This resin piece can’t be compared to anything by Exoto. Exotos are fully opening, tremendously detailed pieces, with tampoed graphics. These are just overpriced plastic, sealed and with decals. Absolutely no comparison.

    • ilka says:

first, to tickle the resin fans, as they love to point at “us” and say that we collect toy cars, because they are openable.
second, because yeah, they’re not enough value for money. Even if TSM which sometimes makes the openable stuff, could make these models, even with some simplifications compared to GMP masterpiece/Exoto/CMC, I would buy it right away. Or if CMC makes it – even better.

    The windscreen looks ridiculously wrong.
