Whelart 1:18 Toyota Supra A80 – Silver

Well, these guys came out of left field and even beat LCD Models to the finish line.   Whelart will introduce the 1:18 metal and full-open version of the classic Toyota Supra A80.  In addition, the model will include a secondary and interchangeable wheelset from OEM to aftermarket TE37 Design.   There is more, body parts and performance engine too.  This definitely reminds us of the Ford Mustang GT from Diecast Masters, though we will admit the effort from WheelArt seems somewhat more polished.    Production for the Silver exterior is limited to 299 pieces.  Retail sits around the $300 CND mark.

I cannot fathom how they can charge $300 for something of this sort! The emblems look like they are printed onto the body, there is no flocking in the interior, the buttons on the center console don’t even look like they are painted. The list goes on and on! I’ve seen Bburagos that are more detailed than this!

Engine looks pretty good, no visible pins in headlight glass, interchangeable wheels and other parts, undercarriage looks decently detailed as well with working suspension…

People are paying the same amount of money for fully closed models without any undercarriage, interior flocking, etc at all. So I don’t see how this one would somehow be an outrageous exception.

I’ll give you the cheap looking “emblems”, but apart from that I really think this is a solid effort.

The shutlines are unacceptable unless they didn’t close the opening parts all the way

No it’s not worth $300… the undercarriage is solid and also the engine bay… while I definitely appreciate those two areas, they are the areas rarely ever seen when displayed. The interior is a joke and I’ve seen better headlights on my 4 year old’s toys. With one or two announcements recently of high end supra a80 opening diecasts in the works, I’ll pass. Would rather have a much more polished and detailed replica without the extras.

Beats LCD? How? Gaps are lame, emblem is a cheap sticker like Maisto, didn’t saw the interior but if it’s not of MR quality they are under LCD! But we’ll, does it comes in a non boring color?

    Wow! This model is gaptastic!
