REVIEW: Minichamps Jaguar XKR GT3 (2008)

As you know I’m a huge fan of presentation cars. Wide fenders, large spoilers are all good for me, so when Minichamps recently announced the Jaguar XKR GT3 I was very excited to my hands on one. The car is currently available in livery form and non-livery in gray and orange. The main reasons for choosing the orange over gray were for the following reasons; one shocking orange is less subtle than the gray and two; the orange featured the wheels without the manufacture branding so it made it more of a street version in the end.

As you may or may not know the model is fully sealed, no access to the interior or motor bits. Boo to Minichamps here! This is also Minichamps entry-level 1:18 model, no Styrofoam clamshell with cardboard exterior box. You have the old school box with an open window. Cost-saving measures I suppose. The paint is nicely done, very rich and thick. The front end perforated grilles in a nice touch too, surprising present here but missing on other keys releases such as the Mercedes SL65 AMG and Ford Focus RS 500 just to name a few. The interior is well-appointed too, the Recaro buckets sure play the part.

Some definite misses for me are rear exhaust tips not properly aligned. The car does not sit on all for wheels (very noticeable in photo #9). Two issues that are unacceptable, especially when the model is fully sealed at the exterior is basically the main attribute. Overall if I had the decision to purchase the model again I would. Enjoy the pics!
